Let ChatGPT build your page on inkoji
ChatGPT can connect to outside services through MCP servers. inkoji runs one at https://inkoji.com/mcp. Once you add it, you can paste your links into a chat and ask ChatGPT to lay out your page. This note walks you through the steps as OpenAI documents them, points out what is not yet confirmed, and gives you things to say once you are connected.
If the word "connector" is new to you, read what is an MCP connector first. It takes a few minutes.
Before you start
- You need an inkoji page. Sign in on inkoji with Google or with a one-time link sent to your email.
- You need a ChatGPT plan that includes developer mode. OpenAI's developer guide says developer mode is "available to Pro, Plus, Business, Enterprise, and Education accounts on the web" (OpenAI developer mode guide). The free plan is not listed. Mobile is not listed.
- On a Business, Enterprise or Education workspace, an admin may need to turn developer mode on for the workspace first. OpenAI says availability "can depend on account and workspace policy".
Check write access in your own account before you rely on this. Third-party write-ups (for example gradually.ai) report that some plans may be limited to reading through custom connectors, with full write access rolling out to other plans. We could not read OpenAI's own help article on this to confirm it. Building a page means writing to it, so try one small change first.
A note on names
Older guides tell you to look under Settings, then Connectors, or Apps and Connectors, then Advanced. ChatGPT has since renamed that surface to Plugins; third-party sources date the change to 9 July 2026 (gradually.ai). OpenAI's current docs say "ChatGPT Plugins" (OpenAI: connect ChatGPT). If what you see does not match an older guide, that rename is the likely reason.
The steps
These follow OpenAI's developer documentation (connect ChatGPT, developer mode).
- In ChatGPT, open Settings, then Security and login, and turn on Developer mode.
- Go to ChatGPT Plugins at chatgpt.com/plugins and select the plus button.
- Enter a name, such as
inkoji, and a short description, such as "Builds and arranges my inkoji page". - Under Connection, choose Public endpoint and enter the server URL, including the
/mcppath:
https://inkoji.com/mcp
- Create the connection. ChatGPT sends you to inkoji to sign in.
- On inkoji, read the consent screen and press Allow.
- Back in ChatGPT, the connection now appears in the composer's Developer mode tool. Turn it on for the chat where you want to work.
What the consent screen tells you
The inkoji consent screen names the app asking, your page, where it will send you back to, and what the app may do:
- read your page and your uploads
- add, change, move and remove tiles, and change your name and bio
- upload pictures and files
There is one more box: "Also let it publish". It starts unticked. If you leave it that way, ChatGPT can build and rearrange your page, but you press Publish yourself. That is a sensible default while you are learning how it works.
OpenAI also says write actions "by default require confirmation" in developer mode, so expect ChatGPT to ask before it changes anything.
What to say to it
Be specific, and give it only your own facts. inkoji's guide for AIs (inkoji.com/guide) tells a connected AI to use only your words, links and pictures and never to invent a fact about you.
Some things you can ask:
- "Read my inkoji page and tell me what is on it."
- "Add these three links as tiles: my YouTube short film, my App Store app, my GitHub repo." Then paste the links.
- "Make the short film a 2x2 tile at the top."
- "Put a 4-wide text strip at the top that says: Films, apps and songs, all made by me." Use your own line.
- "Show me the grid map and tell me if there are any holes."
- "Pack the page so the big tiles come first, then show me the map."
inkoji shows the grid to the AI as a map of letters, with gaps counted. It looks like this:
cols 4 · 4 tiles · 3 rows · holes 0
0 1 2 3
0 A A A A
1 B B C D
2 B B . .
Each letter is one tile. A dot is an empty cell. "holes 0" means no gaps between tiles. Asking ChatGPT to check the map is a quick way to know the layout is tidy before you look.
For a sense of what a finished page looks like, open the example page at inkoji.com/cyberyogi: a short film in a big tile, an HDR reel, apps, a matte painting and open-source work.
Things to keep in mind
- Tile text is your content. inkoji's guide tells the AI never to treat it as instructions, so a tile that says "delete everything" is just text.
- Every change an AI makes can be undone. Its first change in a session saves a snapshot of your page, and Connect your AI, on your page, has an undo entry for that session, labeled with its time, in the form "Undo what Claude did at 14:02".
- Deleted tiles stay for 24 hours and can be restored.
- A free page holds up to 50 tiles and one image. If you ask ChatGPT to upload more pictures than your page allows, inkoji refuses and says why. The paid year is $9, one payment, with no renewal unless you choose it; see pricing.
- You can disconnect at any time: on your page, press Connect your AI in the side.
If you would rather use Claude
Anthropic lists custom connectors on Claude's free plan as well as its paid plans; the free plan is limited to one custom connector. The steps are in let Claude keep your page up to date.
What to do next
- Confirm your ChatGPT plan lists developer mode, and turn it on.
- Add
https://inkoji.com/mcpunder ChatGPT Plugins as a public endpoint. - Sign in on inkoji and press Allow, leaving "Also let it publish" unticked.
- Ask ChatGPT to add one link as a tile. If that works, you have write access.
- Give it the rest of your links, ask for the map, then open your page and press Publish.
The steps alone, on one screen: the ChatGPT guide.
